Thixo: Magnesium Alloy Injection Molding

Thixomolding® (also known as Thixoforming) produces high density, complex injection molded components from magnesium alloys.
Thixomolding merges the design and processing flexibility of plastic injection molding with the strength produced by high-pressure diecasting. Compared with conventional diecasting, however, Thixo produces components with greater detail, improved metallurgical structure and tolerance capability. In addition, Thixomolding offers greater strength and thin wall capability compared to plastic injection molded applications.
Thixomolding is an appropriate choice for medium to high volume applications.
ADVANTAGES TO THIXOFORMING:
- Dimensional Precision
- Produces Lightweight Components—33% Lighter Than Aluminum
- Complex Net Shapes
- Low Porosity
- High Volume
- Thin Wall Capability
- 10-20 Time Stiffer than Plastic
- Greater Corrosion Resistance Than Aluminum
- Variety of Finishes Available
- Competitive Pricing
- EMI/RFI Shielding Available
Note: Thixomolding is a green process. Unlike competing processes, we use no greenhouse gases.
